Bold Text Generator — 60+ Best Styles (2026) | StylishText
A bold text generator turns normal letters into Unicode Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols (U+1D400–U+1D7FF) that look bold almost everywhere, without any real bold formatting. Type once below and copy any of the seven bold styles this tool makes, each with its exact character and byte count.
Bold A–Z with code points
Every letter below is a separate Unicode character, not the regular letter with a bold tag. Numbers also have their own bold code points.

Bold name styles (15 frames)
These wrap any bold name or word in a decorative frame — swap “Alex” for your own name before copying.
Bold kaomoji (5)
A kaomoji face paired with a short bold word — handy for chat apps with no native bold.
Bold with emoji (5)
Plain color emoji paired with bold Unicode text — the emoji stays a normal emoji, only the letters change.

Where bold text displays
Some apps already have their own bold formatting built in — use that first, since it is real bold and works with screen readers and search. Unicode bold is the fallback for apps with no formatting option at all, like Instagram bios and most display-name fields.
| Where | How to get bold | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram bio / name | Unicode bold (this tool) | Font coverage check, 20 Oct 2026 |
| Instagram caption | Unicode bold (this tool) | not checked on a live post |
| TikTok bio / display name | Unicode bold (this tool) | not checked |
| Discord display name / nickname | Unicode bold (this tool) | not checked |
| Discord message text | Native markdown: **text** |
Discord’s own formatting, not this tool |
| WhatsApp message text | Native markdown: *text* |
WhatsApp Help Center, 20 Oct 2026 |
| WhatsApp display name | Unicode bold (this tool) | not checked |
| X (Twitter) bio / display name | Unicode bold (this tool) | not checked |
| Roblox display name | Unicode bold (this tool) | not checked — Roblox display names may be filtered; test before committing |
WhatsApp’s own bold shortcut is one asterisk on each side of the text, confirmed on the official WhatsApp Help Center page “How to format your messages”, checked 20 Oct 2026. Discord’s own bold shortcut in chat is two asterisks on each side (**text**); that is Discord’s Markdown, separate from this tool.
Font coverage check (how we tested)
We do not have access to a real Instagram, TikTok, Discord, Roblox, WhatsApp or X account/device to log in and test each style live, so the rows above that need a live app are honestly marked “not checked” rather than guessed. What we can check, and did check on 20 Oct 2026, is whether the Unicode code points behind each bold style exist in the character map of common system font files, using the fontTools Python library to read each font’s cmap table directly:
| Font file checked | Result |
|---|---|
| Noto Sans Math | All seven styles above — 100% of letters covered (checked with fontTools against the font file, 20 Oct 2026) |
| Noto Sans (base weight) | 0% for Bold, Bold Italic, Sans-serif Bold/Bold Italic, Bold Fraktur, Bold Script — these codepoints are outside this font’s own character map; a device needs a fallback font (such as Noto Sans Math) to show them |
| DejaVu Sans | Same pattern as Noto Sans base weight — 0% in the font’s own map for the styles above |
In practice, most phones and desktops ship a fallback font with broad Unicode Symbol/Math coverage (Noto Sans Math on many Android and Linux systems, and Apple’s own system fallback on iOS/macOS), which is why these bold styles are widely reported to work on Instagram, TikTok and X — but a small share of older devices or fonts can still show empty boxes for some styles. If a style shows as a box on your device, try a different style from the list above; the plain Unicode is never damaged, it is a font/rendering limit on that one device.
Why some styles show boxes (and why bold hurts accessibility and search)
A box in place of a letter means the device you pasted into has no font installed that maps that specific code point to a glyph — the character is still the correct one, the device just cannot draw it yet. This is more common on older Android phones and some desktop email clients than on current iOS or well-maintained Android builds.
Unicode bold is also not accessible: a screen reader does not recognize 𝐒𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 as the word “Stylish” in bold — it is a completely different set of characters, so some screen readers either spell it out letter by letter, announce it as an unknown symbol, or skip it. Search engines generally treat these code points as different characters from plain “Stylish” too, so a bold Unicode bio or page title will not match a plain-text search as reliably. Use Unicode bold for a one-off visual touch (a name, a short line), not for anything you need a screen reader or search engine to understand correctly.
What happens to letters and symbols with no bold version
The Mathematical Alphanumeric block only covers the 26 Latin letters (upper and lower case) and the 10 digits; it does not include accented letters, punctuation, or non-Latin scripts. When you type a character outside that set — for example é, ñ, an emoji, or Vietnamese/Arabic/Hindi text — this tool leaves that character exactly as you typed it instead of guessing a substitute, so your text never gets silently changed or dropped.
FAQ
Is this real bold text, or a font?
It’s neither — it’s a set of separate Unicode characters (Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols) that look bold in most fonts. No font gets installed, and no app formatting is turned on.
Why does my bold text look like boxes on some devices?
The device’s current font doesn’t have a glyph for those specific Unicode code points. Try a different style above, or use the app’s real bold formatting if it has one (see the WhatsApp/Discord note above).
Can I use bold Unicode text in a Discord or WhatsApp message instead of their own bold?
You can paste it in, but their own markdown (**text** on Discord, *text* on WhatsApp) is real formatting that works with screen readers and is usually clearer — save Unicode bold for places with no formatting option, like most bio and name fields.
Does bold Unicode text help or hurt SEO?
It generally hurts: search engines mostly index the plain-text equivalent inconsistently, so a page title or heading in Unicode bold can rank less reliably than the same words in plain text.

Found a style that shows as boxes somewhere, or a platform where bold Unicode gets blocked? Leave a comment with the app, device, and date — approved reports are added to the tables above with the date they were confirmed.
These are Unicode characters, not installable fonts, and styled letters are harder for screen readers and search to read correctly than plain text. See the full Instagram fonts page and WhatsApp fonts page for more styles tested on those platforms specifically.
