Facebook Fonts — Bold & Italic Text for Posts (2026)

Facebook fonts are Unicode text styles — bold, italic and similar Mathematical Alphanumeric variants — that you paste into a post, comment or bio instead of plain letters, so a line stands out in a feed without any real text formatting. They are separate Unicode characters, not installable fonts, and Facebook’s own name policy treats them differently depending on which field you paste them into (more on that below).

What Facebook actually accepts: profile name vs. posts vs. Page name

Facebook treats name-like fields very differently from content fields, and the rules do not transfer between them:

Field Accepts styled Unicode? Notes
Profile Name No Facebook's own name policy asks for the name you go by in everyday life and explicitly disallows symbols, unusual capitalization, repeating characters, titles and most non-alphabetic characters — styled Unicode text does not meet this policy and a name set this way risks a review or lock. We could not find a single stable Facebook Help Center URL to cite for this (search results mostly surfaced third-party guides, not facebook.com itself) — treat this as the well-corroborated consensus across sources, not a directly verified citation, and check Facebook's in-app Help Center for the current wording before relying on it.
Posts, Comments & Bio (About section) Yes Accepts Unicode text, so styled text generally shows up as typed in post content, comments and the About/Bio section — these are not covered by the real-name policy above.
Page Name Risky Facebook Page names follow their own, separate review process and commonly reject decorative Unicode in the same way profile names do — stick to plain text for a Page name and save styled text for the Page's posts instead.

In plain terms: never try to set your profile name in styled Unicode — it’s checked against Facebook’s real-name policy and is likely to get flagged or reset. Posts, comments and your About/Bio section are a different story: those are regular content fields, so styled text pastes in and shows up exactly as typed.

Font coverage and Facebook’s own name-policy review are two separate questions — we only claim what we actually measured.

Where Facebook-style text displays

A style only shows correctly if the reader’s device has a font covering the characters it uses — that is a font-and-rendering question, separate from whether Facebook’s name-policy review accepts it at all (previous section). We check font coverage directly instead of guessing; full method on How We Test Display.

Style iOS Android / Linux Desktop browser Last checked
Bold Not checked 0% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) 18 Oct 2026
Italic Not checked 9% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) 18 Oct 2026
Bold Italic Not checked 0% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) 18 Oct 2026
Sans Bold Not checked 0% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) 18 Oct 2026

Desktop browser and Android/Linux columns are measured by checking whether common system fonts contain the Unicode characters each style uses — see how we test display. iOS has no equivalent font we can test here, so it stays "Not checked" rather than guessed.

Letters with no styled Unicode version

The Mathematical Alphanumeric block these styles draw from covers the Latin alphabet (A–Z, a–z) and, for most of the five styles above, digits 0–9 — but it does not cover punctuation, emoji, or non-Latin scripts. A sentence with an apostrophe, an em dash, or an accented letter outside the mapped set will show that character in plain text even inside an otherwise fully styled sentence; that is expected, not a bug in the tool.

FAQ

Can I use a Facebook font generator for my profile name?

No — Facebook’s real-name policy explicitly disallows symbols and unusual characters in profile names, and a styled Unicode name is likely to get flagged or reset. Save styled text for posts, comments and your About/Bio section instead.

What is a Facebook font generator, technically?

It maps your letters onto a Unicode block called Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols, which includes complete bold, italic and bold-italic alphabets — no font file, no install, just different characters that happen to look bold or italic.

Will styled text work in a Facebook Page name?

Usually not — Page names go through their own review process that commonly rejects decorative Unicode the same way profile names do. Use plain text for the Page name and styled text in the Page’s posts.

Why did part of my styled sentence stay in plain text?

The Unicode block these styles use only covers letters A–Z, a–z and (for most styles) 0–9 — punctuation, emoji and accented letters outside that set have no styled equivalent, so they pass through unchanged. See “Letters with no styled Unicode version” above.
