Where it displays
A style only shows correctly if the reader's device has a font that includes the Unicode characters it uses. We check this directly, font by font, instead of guessing — full method on How We Test Display. iOS stays "Not checked" because we have no Apple device font to test against here.
| Style | iOS | Android / Linux | Desktop browser | Last checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bold | Not checked | 0% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes | Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) | 18 Oct 2026 |
| Cursive Script | Not checked | 9% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes | Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) | 18 Oct 2026 |
| Gothic / Old English | Not checked | 0% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes | Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) | 18 Oct 2026 |
| Bubble (Circled) | Not checked | 0% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes | Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) | 18 Oct 2026 |
| Small Caps | Not checked | Full glyph set (Noto Sans) | Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) | 18 Oct 2026 |
| Superscript | Not checked | Full glyph set (Noto Sans) | Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) | 18 Oct 2026 |
| Upside Down | Not checked | 82% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes | Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) | 18 Oct 2026 |
| Strikethrough | Not checked | Full glyph set (Noto Sans) | Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) | 18 Oct 2026 |
| Bold Strikethrough | Not checked | 50% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes | Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) | 18 Oct 2026 |
| Glitch / Zalgo | Not checked | Full glyph set (Noto Sans) | Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) | 18 Oct 2026 |
| Wide / Vaporwave | Not checked | 0% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes | 0% of glyphs found — rest may show as boxes | 18 Oct 2026 |
| Braille Pattern Blank | Not checked | 0% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes | Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) | 18 Oct 2026 |
| Royal Crown | Not checked | 85% of glyphs in Noto Sans — rest may show as boxes | Full glyph set (Chromium + system fonts) | 18 Oct 2026 |
Desktop browser and Android/Linux columns are measured by checking whether common system fonts contain the Unicode characters each style uses — see how we test display. iOS has no equivalent font we can test here, so it stays "Not checked" rather than guessed.
Compare style families
Ten families cover all 60+ styles above. "Coverage" below is the share of a style's characters we found in the common fonts we tested (see the table above); it is not a guarantee for every device, just the most honest number we can measure.
| Family | Looks like | Unicode block(s) | Measured coverage | Screen reader |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bold & Classic | 𝐒𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 | Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols | 100% (18 Oct 2026) | Often skipped or spelled letter-by-letter |
| Cursive / Script | 𝒮𝓉𝓎𝓁𝒾𝓈𝒽 | Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols (script) | 100% (18 Oct 2026) | Same as Bold — not reliable |
| Gothic / Fraktur | 𝔖𝔱𝔶𝔩𝔦𝔰𝔥 | Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols (Fraktur) | 100% (18 Oct 2026) | Same as Bold — not reliable |
| Bubble & Squared | Ⓢⓣⓨⓛⓘⓢⓗ | Enclosed Alphanumerics | 100% (18 Oct 2026) | Sometimes announced verbosely ("circled latin small letter s") |
| Small Caps / Super / Sub | ꜱᴛʏʟɪꜱʜ | Phonetic Extensions, Superscripts & Subscripts | 100% (18 Oct 2026) | Usually read closer to normal — built from real letters |
| Strike / Underline | S̶t̶y̶l̶i̶s̶h̶ | Combining Diacritical Marks | 100% (18 Oct 2026) | Marks are usually skipped; letters still read |
| Mirror / Upside Down | ɥsᴉlʎʇS | IPA & reversed Latin letterforms | 100% (18 Oct 2026) | Not reliable — word order and letters both change |
| Glitch / Zalgo | S̴̢̈t̶y̷l̶i̴s̶h̸ | Stacked Combining Diacritical Marks | 100% (18 Oct 2026) | Not reliable — often hard even for sighted readers |
| Wide / Vaporwave | Stylish | Halfwidth and Fullwidth Forms | 0% (18 Oct 2026 — missing from every font we tested) | Not reliable |
| Decorative Borders | ♛ Stylish ♛ | Mixed symbol blocks around plain text | 68–100% (18 Oct 2026, varies by border) | Border symbols usually skipped; the wrapped word still reads |
How this generator works
None of the styles above are installed fonts. Unicode assigns separate code points to alternate-looking letterforms — originally for mathematical notation, phonetic transcription and a few other technical uses — and this tool simply maps each letter you type to its styled counterpart in the right block, entirely in your browser, with JavaScript. A plain word like "stylish" becomes 𝓼𝓽𝔂𝓵𝓲𝓼𝓱 (cursive), 𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 (bold), or ꜱᴛʏʟɪꜱʜ (small caps) — same letters, a different Unicode block each time. Because it is plain text, not an image or a font file, it copies and pastes anywhere that accepts Unicode, with nothing to install and nothing sent to a server to generate it.
Using stylish text on each platform
Instagram (see Wikipedia) accepts styled Unicode in your display name and bio, but not in your @username field, which only takes plain letters, numbers, periods and underscores. About Instagram on Wikipedia.
TikTok
TikTok (see Wikipedia) follows the same pattern as Instagram: the nickname and bio fields accept styled text; the @username does not. About TikTok on Wikipedia.
Discord
Discord's display name, server nickname and About Me fields accept styled Unicode text; the unique @username is plain-text only. See our Discord fonts page for the detail.
Roblox
Roblox (see Wikipedia) is the strictest of the five: its chat filter is unusually aggressive about non-standard Unicode. See our Roblox fonts page for the full display-name and chat test results. About Roblox on Wikipedia.
WhatsApp has its own native *bold*, _italic_, ~strikethrough~ and triple-backtick monospace markup on top of what Unicode styling can do — our WhatsApp fonts page covers both side by side.
Why some styled text shows as boxes
The Unicode standard itself discourages using the Mathematical Alphanumeric block for ordinary styling — it exists for math notation, and plenty of fonts never shipped glyphs for it, which is why a bold or cursive style occasionally renders as an empty box on an older device. Our own measurement found a sharper example: the Wide/Vaporwave style uses the Halfwidth and Fullwidth Forms block, and on 18 Oct 2026 we found 0% of its characters in any of the five common fonts we tested (Noto Sans, Noto Sans Math, Noto Sans Symbols, Noto Sans Symbols 2, DejaVu Sans and Open Sans) — meaning a Linux or Android system relying only on those fonts, with no further fallback, would show it as boxes. Small Caps and the enclosed-letter (bubble/squared) styles are built from characters assigned for general use, which is part of why they tend to survive on more devices than the math-block or fullwidth styles do.
Is stylish text good or bad for SEO?
Search engines index the underlying Unicode characters, not a rendered font, so a styled heading is not automatically invisible to a crawler. It is, however, often unreadable to screen readers: many assistive technologies spell Mathematical Alphanumeric characters out letter by letter or skip them. Keep stylish text to names and bios you are decorating for yourself, not to body copy other people need to have read aloud — see our full Accessibility page for the details.

FAQ
How do I get fancy text?
Type a word into the tool at the top of this page — it instantly shows 60+ Unicode styles with a Copy button each. There is nothing to install; copy the result and paste it anywhere that accepts text.
Does this collect what I type?
No. Every style above is generated by your own browser; nothing you type is sent to our server.
Can I use these in my Instagram or TikTok username?
No — usernames on Instagram, TikTok, Discord and Roblox only accept plain letters, numbers and a couple of punctuation marks. Your display name, bio or status field is where styled text works; see the platform pages above for the exact fields.
Why did my styled text turn back into plain letters after I posted it?
Some platforms normalize Unicode (normalization form NFKC) when they save your text, which strips Mathematical Alphanumeric styling back to plain ASCII. That is a platform-side decision, not something broken in your copy.
